The Astral Parasite does not exist in isolation within the non-physical ecology but occupies a specific niche within a broader taxonomy of discarnate and non-physical intelligences, several of which maintain operational relationships with the parasite class that warrant documentation. The baseline entity described in Monroe’s accounts represents the lower end of the intelligence spectrum within this taxonomy — the opportunistic bottom-feeder. The entities documented by other researchers are considerably more troubling.

The flyer model implies an entity that has an interest in the host’s continued function.
• Shadow People — Mature Specimens or Distinct Sub-Classification The dark, human-shaped figures reported in peripheral vision by a consistent and geographically widespread population of experiencers are assessed by this Directorate as likely representing a distinct but related sub-classification: entities of greater energetic density than baseline parasites, possibly representing mature or highly-fed specimens, or an intermediate form between the non-intelligent parasite class and the more complex intelligences described in advanced shamanic and Gnostic literature. • Incubus / Succubus / The Mare — Sleep-State Specialists The incubus and succubus of medieval European tradition, the mare of Norse and Germanic folklore, and the sleep paralysis entities documented across contemporary cross-cultural psychology literature are assessed as further variants within this broader taxonomic family, distinguished primarily by their preferred access window — the hypnagogic and hypnopompic states bordering sleep — rather than by fundamentally distinct nature. The specific sexual dimension of the incubus/succubus accounts may reflect exploitation of the sacral chakra attachment point under conditions of particular vulnerability. The cross-cultural consistency of the sleep-paralysis entity description — dark presence, paralysis, pressure on the chest, sense of malevolence — is among the strongest convergence data in this file.
• The Archons — Gnostic High-Intelligence Variant The Gnostic texts recovered at Nag Hammadi articulate the most theologically sophisticated pre-modern taxonomy of non-physical predatory intelligences.
