Origin — From a Trailer in the Middle of Nowhere
David Holmstrom did not come from a background in academia or institutional science. By his own account — documented in the memoir Resonate369: The New Beginning (co-authored with his wife Arianna Holmstrom) — he grew up in poverty, in a trailer home, in an environment that offered little in the way of material comfort or intellectual encouragement. What it did offer, he says, was early and recurring contact with experiences he could not explain through conventional frameworks: seeing what he describes as spirits at age six, witnessing a large unidentified aerial object above cloud cover, and — throughout adolescence and early adulthood — an intensifying awareness of patterns, frequencies, and synchronicities in the world around him.
The intellectual turning point came through his discovery of Nikola Tesla‘s research — specifically the portions of Tesla’s work that Holmstrom, like many in the alternative energy community, believes were suppressed or minimized by institutional interests after Tesla’s death. This discovery, combined with what he describes as a consciousness-expanding experience with a psychedelic compound (referred to obliquely as the “spirit molecule”), catalyzed a decade-long self-directed research program into electromagnetism, resonance physics, and unconventional energy conversion. He has described his Instagram research background as “thorough research on Electromagnetism for 10 years.”
Approximately three years before this file’s compilation, Holmstrom began documenting his experiments publicly under the name Resonate369 — a designation combining resonance (the central theme of his technical work) with the number 369, a sequence associated in certain esoteric and mathematical traditions with Nikola Tesla’s alleged belief in the significance of those three numbers. The name signals both his technical preoccupations and his broader worldview: a fusion of hands-on electrical experimentation with a spiritual and conspiratorial framework in which free energy is possible and is being suppressed, and in which the role of the independent experimenter is to break through that suppression and give the discoveries directly to the public.
The Mission — A People-Powered Energy Research Movement
Holmstrom is explicit that Resonate369 is not intended as a conventional inventor-and-product operation, nor as a traditional research institution. He frames it as a movement: a decentralized, open-source community of builders, tinkerers, and researchers who collectively explore whether energy systems can be made to work with natural environmental gradients rather than against them. The stated aim is radical transparency — open data, shared designs, community replication — as a deliberate counter-model to what Holmstrom characterizes as the secrecy and suppression of institutional science and corporate energy interests.
The infrastructure he has built to support this model centers on FriendBeacon.com, a platform he describes as purpose-built for independent researchers. It combines a social community layer (groups, member profiles, activity feeds) with a commercial layer: a shop where Holmstrom sells STL files for 3D-printed components of his experimental devices, as well as assembled products and Tesla-coil kits. The platform is described as “powered by Resonate369,” making the community brand and the commercial operation explicitly intertwined.
Alongside FriendBeacon, Holmstrom runs his primary public research documentation through TikTok (his largest platform, with over 230,000 followers and 1.1 million likes), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Individual experiments are filmed and posted in real time, creating a live-documentation model that invites viewers to watch the research process unfold rather than receiving polished conclusions. This approach generates significant engagement — individual TikTok videos have reached 115,000+ likes — and reinforces the community identity of shared discovery.
Technical Framework — The Core Theory
Holmstrom’s central technical claim, stated most formally in his Project AetherCell article on FriendBeacon (January 2026), is that certain electrical systems — specifically high-voltage, low-current configurations interacting with natural atmospheric conditions — exhibit an unexpected behavior: when a load is applied, the measured electrical input power decreases while usable output power remains stable or increases. He interprets this not as energy creation from nothing, but as evidence that the system is coupling additional energy from the surrounding environment.
The environmental energy sources he identifies are real physical phenomena: atmospheric electric potential gradients, mobile ions in humid air, charge separation driven by weather and pressure differentials, and chemical potential energy stored in water vapor. These gradients do exist and are measurable. Holmstrom’s claim is that a suitably engineered electrical system can be made to act as a conduit through which these gradients discharge — augmenting the electrical input with environmental energy in the same way a heat pump augments electrical input with ambient thermal energy to achieve a coefficient of performance (COP) greater than 1.
He formalizes this in his own notation. If a device draws energy from both electrical input (Pin,elec) and the environment (Penv), then total output is bounded by: Pout ≤ η(Pin,elec + Penv). The electrical COP can therefore exceed 1 without violating thermodynamic conservation — not because energy is created, but because the measured electrical input is not the system’s only energy source. Whether his experimental apparatus actually achieves this coupling, as opposed to producing measurement artifacts, is the central unresolved question — and, he states, the explicit focus of his fundraising campaign.
Hygroelectric generation — producing electricity from atmospheric humidity — is a real and actively researched phenomenon in mainstream science. A 2018 paper in Nature Communications demonstrated a graphene oxide-based hygroelectric generator producing an output voltage approaching 1.5V; scaling 15 units in series yielded 18V — sufficient to drive commercial electronics. Research in ScienceDirect (2019) combined hygroelectric generation with a supercapacitor for self-storage, achieving outputs capable of powering a commercial calculator.
The distinction between Holmstrom’s work and this mainstream research lies in methodology, materials, and claims. Academic hygroelectric research uses carefully characterized nanomaterials (graphene oxide, TiO₂ nanowires) with precisely controlled fabrication. Holmstrom works with copper rods, coil geometries, and 3D-printed components in open-air environments. Academic researchers carefully account for all input/output energy. Holmstrom reports observing behavior that “appears to be” overunity — a formulation that leaves open whether it is measurement artifact, systematic error, or genuine environmental coupling. His stated intention to acquire rigorous measurement equipment addresses this gap directly; whether he closes it remains to be seen.
Devices and Experiments — The Resonate369 Project Portfolio
Holmstrom has publicly documented a substantial number of distinct experimental devices and design concepts across his platforms. Each represents a different approach to his core thesis — that resonance, coil geometry, atmospheric electricity, or electromagnetic interaction can produce energy behavior that exceeds what conventional efficiency models predict. The following are the primary projects documented in public posts and product listings.
AetherCell is Holmstrom’s flagship and most formally documented project. The concept is an energy harvesting system designed to tap natural atmospheric gradients — humidity, ion density, and electric potential — rather than chemical fuel or photovoltaic absorption. In his January 2026 FriendBeacon writeup he describes experiments using copper rod arrays arranged in geometric configurations (including a pyramid structure) grounded via a rectifier. The pyramid, he writes, “acts like a resonant antenna, and when the plasma ball is introduced, it emits high-frequency electromagnetic waves and locally ionizes the air, which temporarily lowers resistance and boosts the system’s ability” to couple environmental energy.
AetherCell is also the focus of a structured three-phase public fundraising campaign targeting an initial $12,500 for precision measurement equipment, up to $18,000 for controlled environmental coupling experiments, and a further $9,500 to open-source all designs as STL files for community replication. The campaign’s stated primary purpose is to determine, with rigorous instrumentation, whether the observed effects are real or measurement-dependent.
One of Holmstrom’s most recently shared designs, the hygroelectric battery cell generates electrical voltage from humidity gradients in the surrounding air. His Facebook post announcing the design noted it was “sitting at 200mv and climbs based on the humidity gradient in the environment.” He made the design available to followers immediately upon announcing it, consistent with his open-distribution model.
Unlike laboratory hygroelectric devices that use nanomaterials with carefully engineered interfaces, Holmstrom’s cell uses materials accessible to home builders. The voltages reported (200mV base) are consistent in order of magnitude with what mainstream research has demonstrated from atmospheric humidity under ambient conditions, though the materials and mechanisms differ. No independent replication data has been published by third parties.
The Trioflux is Holmstrom’s primary rotating generator design and the device most directly aimed at his stated #1 goal: creating an overunity generator. It is a flywheel-based permanent magnet generator in which coil placement and phase angles are calculated using what Holmstrom calls “Vortex Based Mathematics” — a system derived from the numerological mathematics of Marko Rodin, which maps digit patterns on a nine-point circle to claim to reveal hidden structure in nature and electromagnetic systems.
The design formula he references is F = (number of magnets × RPM) / phase angle. His TikTok documentation of an early Trioflux prototype attracted 115,900 likes, with Holmstrom noting that “volts and current climb at what appear to be an overunity rate of efficiency.” In a separate post he compared the Trioflux to a 2022 overunity patent that was submitted and then withdrawn, noting the structural similarities and suggesting a 6-phase coil arrangement might be needed to replicate the patent’s claimed efficiency figures.
A 3D-printable version of the generator, the Dodecatron, was released as a free DIY kit for educational purposes. Holmstrom announced it on TikTok with a commitment to post assembly tutorials and to sell pre-assembled units for those without 3D printers.
The Impulse Resonator Motor is a motor that runs on timed electrical pulses rather than continuous power input. Holmstrom’s TikTok documentation notes he had “never built a motor that could run on almost no current input” before this design. The principle draws on Tesla’s own experiments with pulsed DC systems, in which brief high-voltage pulses were used to drive inductive loads more efficiently than continuous alternating current.
STL files for the V1 design are available for purchase on FriendBeacon. Holmstrom frames this as both a research tool and a proof of concept: a motor that requires minimal input current is a prerequisite component for any closed-loop or self-sustaining generator system. The V1 designation suggests continued iteration is planned.
The AtmoMotor is Holmstrom’s attempt to build a motor that draws its motive energy directly from the atmospheric electric potential — the natural voltage gradient that exists between the Earth’s surface and the upper atmosphere (on the order of 100–300 volts per meter under fair weather conditions, known to atmospheric physicists as the Global Electric Circuit). Whether sufficient current can be drawn from this gradient through practical ground-and-antenna configurations to perform meaningful mechanical work is a question mainstream atmospheric electricity research has not resolved in the affirmative. Holmstrom is approaching it from the bottom up — building, measuring, iterating — rather than from theoretical prediction.
Two of Holmstrom’s most visually distinctive designs are the Vortex Coil and the Dodecagram Coil. Both depart from the cylindrical or toroidal coil geometries used in conventional electrical engineering, using instead geometric forms derived from sacred geometry and Vortex Based Mathematics. The dodecagram (a twelve-pointed star polygon) is used as the winding template, producing a coil in which wire returns on a 12-fold symmetry. Holmstrom’s claim is that these geometries interact with electromagnetic fields differently from standard coils — producing unique resonance behaviors, different impedance characteristics, or enhanced coupling with environmental fields.
Mainstream electrical engineering does not recognize geometric coil forms derived from numerological principles as producing anomalous behavior; coil behavior is well-described by winding density, core material, and wire length. The claim that a 12-point star geometry produces fundamentally different electromagnetic output from a standard toroid of comparable parameters has not been validated by peer review. Holmstrom’s documentation of these coils in experiments is open and ongoing.
Holmstrom builds and sells Tesla-coil products through FriendBeacon and uses Tesla coil systems as atmospheric ionization tools in other experiments (notably AetherCell). Beyond the coil’s conventional role as a high-frequency resonance transformer, he is interested in Tesla’s own unpublished claims about “radiant energy” — a term Tesla used to describe what he believed was a form of energy distinct from electromagnetic radiation, potentially harvestable from the aether or from cosmic particle streams. Holmstrom’s Faraday box experiments are designed to isolate and measure any such component in his high-voltage setups.
Among Holmstrom’s more speculative experimental setups are the Stargate Coil and the LaPoint Array. A Facebook post describes his intention to “test a theory using the Stargate Coil and the LaPoint Array” together. The LaPoint Array refers to work by independent researcher David LaPoint, whose “Primer Fields” series proposed an alternative to conventional plasma physics based on bowl-shaped magnetic field structures. The Stargate Coil is a toroidal or portal-shaped coil configuration. These setups sit at the furthest edge of Holmstrom’s project portfolio, drawing on fringe physics rather than any mainstream theoretical framework, and have produced no quantified results in publicly available documentation.

Distribution Philosophy — Open Science vs. Commercial Ecosystem
One of the more distinctive aspects of the Resonate369 operation is the explicit tension — and attempted reconciliation — between two competing models. On one hand, Holmstrom positions the project as radical open science: designs shared freely, data published publicly, replication encouraged, and the community collectively owning the results. On the other hand, FriendBeacon operates as a commercial marketplace where STL files are sold, products are listed, and the platform itself is branded under the Resonate369 name. The Dodecatron kit is given away free; the Impulse Resonator Motor STL files are priced for purchase. The AetherCell campaign solicits funding, with the community replication phase gated behind meeting earlier fundraising goals.
This hybrid model — part research collective, part content creator, part design marketplace — is not unique in the independent inventor space. It reflects the economic reality of self-funded research: equipment, materials, and platform infrastructure cost money, and the community’s enthusiasm is the most readily available funding source. Whether this structure enhances or compromises the independence and integrity of the research is a question each follower and potential supporter is left to assess individually.
Public Criticism and Contested Claims
Public criticism of Resonate369 / David Holmstrom exists in open platforms. A Facebook post from a separate page explicitly accuses him of “misrepresentation of Nikola Tesla inventions for profit.” The nature and specifics of this accusation — whether it concerns the technical claims themselves, the framing of Tesla’s work, or the commercialization model — are not elaborated in the available post. The Directorate cannot independently verify the accusation, and it is noted here for balance rather than as a confirmed finding.
The broader scientific criticism of Holmstrom’s work is structural rather than personal. The concept of overunity — any device outputting more energy than is put in from all sources combined — violates the first law of thermodynamics and has never been validated in a controlled, peer-reviewed setting. Holmstrom’s own formulation of the AetherCell claim explicitly distances itself from true overunity (“this does not mean energy is being created from nothing”), reframing observed COP > 1 as environmental energy coupling. This is a scientifically coherent framing — heat pumps do operate this way — but requires rigorous energy accounting of all input channels, including environmental ones, to validate. Holmstrom himself acknowledges this gap and states his Phase 1 campaign goal is specifically to close it with precision instrumentation.
The use of Vortex Based Mathematics — a system derived from Marko Rodin’s numerological mapping of digits to a nine-point circle — as a design framework for coil geometry is contested by mainstream electrical engineering. There is no peer-reviewed mechanism by which number patterns determine electromagnetic output; coil behavior is determined by physical parameters (wire length, turns, core permeability, frequency) not by the numerological significance of the winding count. Holmstrom has used this framework to achieve designs he finds interesting and has documented apparent anomalies; he has not published controlled comparisons between Vortex-geometry coils and geometrically conventional equivalents.
Directorate Assessment — Active File Summary
On the person: David Holmstrom is a self-taught, self-funded independent experimenter with a decade of documented interest in electromagnetic and atmospheric energy systems. His public profile is consistent, his identity is verifiable across multiple platforms, and his stated philosophy of open-source research and community empowerment is coherent and sincerely expressed. He is not a shadowy or anonymous actor.
On the science: His framing of the AetherCell COP > 1 claim is more careful than typical “free energy” rhetoric — he explicitly invokes the heat pump analogy and frames his campaign as a measurement exercise rather than a proof of discovery. Hygroelectricity is a real field; atmospheric electricity is a real field; environmental energy coupling is thermodynamically permissible. Whether his specific devices demonstrate it in a controlled, artifact-free way is unresolved. The Vortex Based Mathematics framework has no mainstream scientific support as a design methodology.
On the model: The hybrid open-science / commercial ecosystem creates potential conflicts of interest that followers should weigh. The fundraising structure, the product sales, and the community branding all run alongside the research claims. None of this invalidates the research; it is context for evaluating it.
Recommended classification: INDEPENDENT RESEARCHER — UNCONVENTIONAL ENERGY SYSTEMS — ACTIVE MONITORING. No determination of fraud or validation of technical claims. File to be updated upon publication of Phase 1 AetherCell measurement data.
